Guidelines for Diagnosis and Management of Food Protein-Induced Enterocolitis Syndrome

  Anna Nowak-Wegrzyn, MD, PhD, is a professor of pediatrics at NYU Grossman School of Medicine and director of the Pediatric Allergy Program at Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital at NYU Langone Health in New York City. She received her medical degree from Jagiellonian University in Poland, where she also completed an internship. Dr. Nowak-Wegrzyn completed pediatric residencies at Polish-American Children’s Hospital in Cracow, and the University of Maryland in Baltimore. She was awarded a fellowship in allergy and immunology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Nowak-Wegrzyn received her PhD degree from the University of Warmia and Mazury in Poland. She is one of the few physicians, worldwide, who is board certified in pediatrics, allergy and immunology.

  Dr. Nowak-Wegrzyn has an international reputation as an expert in pediatric food allergies, anaphylaxis and food protein-induced enterocolitis syndrome (FPIES). She is the principal investigator for a number of clinical trials, and her research interests include egg and milk allergy, food-induced anaphylaxis treatment and risk factors, diagnostic issues in food allergy, and FPIES. Landmark research studies led by Dr. Nowak-Wegrzyn of baked milk and egg diets changed the standard of care for millions of milk- and egg-allergic children by allowing them to ingest these foods in baked products.
