Motivational Interviewing Skills Development

Joani L. Jack, MD, medical director, Children's Healthy Eating and Active Living Center, and assistant professor, University of Tennessee College of Medicine, will discuss how to use evidence-based motivational interviewing tools and techniques to engage patients and families and promote health behavior change in the pediatric setting. The presentation includes practical tips, clinical pearls, and role-playing scenarios for successfully negotiating challenging patient encounters such as childhood obesity, smoking by parents, promotion of breastfeeding, vaccine refusal, and managing chronic illnesses.

 

This course does not offer CE credit.
