Lactoferrin’s Role in COVID-19

Dr. Paolo Manzoni provides insight into lactoferrin’s strong trophic actions that target the gut. Recent studies show lactoferrin’s ability to modify inflammation, which may be useful in COVID-19 because ACE2 receptors are widely represented in the gut. Randomized clinical trials in adults are underway in Italy, with the hope of extending the assessment to pediatric patients, based on the promising actions of lactoferrin.
